“Her past has come back to haunt her . . . Delanie Tate waits nervously for the man who has torn through her father’s company, consuming along the way her own small business. But she never thought it would be him! The man who ruthlessly commanded her trembling body, who finally shattered her fragile, trusting heart. Marco Vincienta has taken everything he possibly could from Tate Industries — apart from the woman who nearly destroyed him. He needs her for one last thing before he can cut her from his life. If Delanie wants her company back — her life back — she’ll have to do as he asks. A fave author. Gripping and enthralling.”

Why write?

At our last romance chapter meeting, one of our members asked the authors at large why we wrote. It’s a good question and one I’ve been asked many times.

I’ve tried to come up with something profound or at least tangible that you can touch and feel. But like the craft itself, writing is many times organic. We do it because there’s something inside us driving us to tell a story.

Many writers are like me. They simply can’t divorce themselves from writing. It is as essential as breathing.

For years and years I wrote fan fiction, often in my head. I was able to rewrite movies and books the way I wanted them to be bd debt that creative energy within me.

The creative bug or writing fever had not fully unfolded from its coccoon. But once it did, I couldn’t not write.

It something I must do to feel good, even though it is often emotionally and physically draining. My emotions are often tightly woven with that character’s and it does take some unwind time to separate from that world.

But writing is my avocation and my addiction. I love it. I have to write. Otherwise, the characters that spring to life in my imagination would drive me crazy. 🙂

I wasn’t surprised that the majority of the authors had the same or very similar reasons for writing. Yes, being paid for doing something you love and must do to satisfy that inner urge in a writer is nice. Would I write if I didn’t get paid?

Yes. Maybe not as often or as feverishly, but I would still write.

Post RT

The RT Booklovers Convention in Chicago was awesome! I loved connecting with readers, editors, booksellers, and friends and peers for the week. The events were fabulous. Thanks to all the readers who looked me up to collect swag and books.

Much thanks to the RT staff who did a fabulous job. Chicago is such a fun town anyway. The food is magnificent!

Next year it will be in Kansas City, right in my back yard so to speak. Can’t wait to do it all over again.

But right now I am glad to be back home with Pound Puppy and #1 man in my life.

If you wanted trading cards and didn’t get them there, drop me an email and I’ll mail them to you.

Thanks again devoted fans and RT staff!

RT Book lovers Convention Chicago

Chicago, Chicago it’s my kind of town….

Ok, that’s lyrics from an old old song that I remember my mom singing and dancing to. Sinatra, I think. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve leaving dog child and #1 man in my life at home for trip to the fun-filled romance readers’ convention held in Chicago this year. I’m thrilled to be part of it and have goodies and bling and books to giveaway. Look me up if you’re there. If you can’t go and want Romance Trading cards or notepads (while supply lasts) drop me an email requesting either. If you’re at the con and read this, let me know and you’ll get an extra goodie. 🙂

See you in Chicago!

In like a lion…

We’re supposed to have one of those super awesome welcome to March roaring in like a lion days, which is fine by me. Except I have to work at the day job and won’t be able to enjoy it. 🙁

But even if I was working from home or had the morning off, I’d still be chained to the desk.

I just turned in my book to my editor in London (fingers crossed she doesn’t think it’s dreck) and now I’m doing my income taxes. Oh joy. Not!

Thankfully I’ve just about got it all together for the tax lady to slice and dice. If I’m lucky I estimated taxes right this year and won’t owe. If I’m wrong, well that scream you hear will be me. 🙂

Enjoy your day!
