Spring has sprung

Woohoo, spring is finally here. The jonquils and crocus are up, the weather is warming nicely, and I finally was able to balance an egg on its end last night.

vernal equinox egg

Cool, huh? Does this mean I’ll have a year of good luck?

WIP tag

Larissa Ione tagged me for this because I tagged her a while back. The instructions are to go to p. 123 of a work in progress, and find the fifth paragraph and post it out of context. So I went to Gil’s story, which will be getting edits soon.

Here goes–

The impropriety of it all should have doused these strange needy feelings bubbling in Josie, but in all honesty she’d never felt so wanted. So alive as a woman.

She focused on her sewing and blew out a breath, hoping that’d cool her flushed face. The only way she’d get the hem in and not stick herself was to avoid looking at Gil Yancy. She couldn’t let herself get swept away by his charm.

But she had the sinking feeling it was going to happen anyway. Again .

Okay, I tag Samhain author Liz Kreger. 😈

Guest blogging

I’m guest blogging at History Hoydens today. Pop over and read about the research gem that sparked the idea for ONE REAL COWBOY. I’m also giving away a signed copy to one lucky commentor. 🙂

Signing #1 update

Well, I survived my first signing at Borders. They had two tables set up for Amy Knupp and I, with about 8 or 10 each of our books displayed on the tables.

The manager came by to welcome us, and let us know there was a problem. He had a good supply of our books set aside for the signing, but an employee mistakenly returned them to the distributor. So the manager had to scramble around town to find the few copies displayed.

Thankfully we came prepared with extra copies, as we’d heard similar horror stories. In fact I’ve heard so many more exact same tales of late that I’m a tad suspicious now. Are there really that many clueless employees? 🙂

At any rate, we sold out the copies on hand plus about 15 more (for me), Amy may have sold more.

It was great fun to share this experience with my friend and CP. Who knows if we’ll have books releasing at the same time again, or if bookstores will still be hosting booksignings. They are getting to be a rare thing.

I posted a couple of pictures on my website of the event.

Oh, Kalen Hughes at History Hoydens posted a interview of me. Come by and say hi!

First signing

I’m off in a bit to Kansas City for my first official signing. This is a joint event with good friend and critique partner Amy Knupp, so the nervous factor isn’t overwhelming for me. I figure Amy will do enough fretting for both of us, lol.

She’s signing her second release, THE BOY NEXT DOOR. It’s a great read and one you don’t want to miss. For me, I’m signing copies of my hunky hero, ONE REAL COWBOY. Friend and fellow Writeminded gal Larissa Ione swears the real cover is much better than the online jpeg. Gotta agree with that! And my other cp and friend, Sharon Long, said copies of ORC were flying off the shelves in Texas. Hey, she took pictures of it! Thanks, GF!

Today’s signing is at Borders, 9108 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS (‘burb of KC). If you’re in the area, stop on by.

Wish me luck!

Oh, speaking of writeminded–we’ve launched a readers chat group through yahoo. To join, send a blank email to writeminded_readers@yahoogroups.com.
