About five minutes before I planned to leave for my romance chapter meeting on Saturday, there was a wreck in front of my house. This is the second three-car pile-up in a two month span. This time my mail box survived, but I don’t have high hopes that it will have a long life.
People are suddenly driving way too fast and too recklessly on my street. They should rename it Kansas Speedway 2. 😉
There’s a side street across from my house and any car trying to turn into it is subject to getting rear-ended. Hard. That looks like what happened this time, which is a repeat.
A couple of people we taken off in an ambulance. The fire department was on hand to deal with the spilled gasoline and/or antifreeze. Cops were measurely distances between impact and cars. Car trim, glass and debris littered the street.
With the first wreck, it was just good luck that nobody was walking on the sidewalk at the time. We have a lot of walkers, including kids on their way and from school. The last wreck was contained to the street.
Something is going to have to be done — probably a reduction in speed. I’m not going to hold much hope that drivers will suddenly become attentive.
