Upgrade

Nobody is out to make a better mousetrap that those in the technical world. It seems like every time I turn around, something on my computer is upgrading/updating.

The auto stuff usually works fine, though the last IE upgrade nearly sent me into a meltdown when my email went wacky. (Or maybe that’s wackier?) Dunno. It took a week before I received email in a timely manner.

(Though this week I’ve been getting an awful lot of mail dated Dec 8. Hmmm)

Anyway, the WordPress site is insisting on an upgrade to the blog. It’s an easy one click fix. They say. I hope it works. I’ve made backup copies of the blog files.

See, I’m telling you all this in case the blog disappears or goes hinky on me. Again.

One click fix. Right. Wish me luck!

It must be Kansas…

because it was 60 degrees F yesterday, and cold with a chance for snow today. But I’ll take that over the killer tornados that swept through southern Missouri yesterday, or the horrendous storms that battered the west coast.

What’s with the weather?

When it rains it pours?

Despite the snow and ice and cold crappy weather, the New Year started off pretty good for me. I figured out a bugaboo with my wip, and now I’m on track and moving forward with One Real Hero.

But the bad news demon is still plaguing our family. A cousin passed away far too young. And my dad’s oldest brother died last night. He’d contracted Alzheimer’s and has battled that for some time, but it’s still very difficult to say good-bye to a loved one.

I preferto remember him engaged in the sports he loved so much and devoted so much of his life to. He was a very good dad, a loving good husband, and a really great uncle.

It’s my hope that we don’t have any more deaths in our family for a good long time. Readers and friends, hug someone you love right now.

Preview/review for One Real Man

I just received my first review for One Real Man! 🙂 Oh, happy dancing! Click this link and scroll down to blog #162. And thanks, Merri!

White Christmas

I know a lot of people hope they’ll get a white Christmas, and I’ll admit I find beauty in a rolling landscape dusted in white and shades of gray. I even like the crunch of snow underfoot and that ethereal glow that comes off a snowscape at night.

BUT, bah-humbug! I don’t like it when the snow is mid-calf (and higher in drifts). I don’t like the butt-cold wind either that seems to blow right through my old house. I don’t like shoveling snow mountains (so I don’t do it). 🙂

I posted a couple of pictures of our new wintery scene on my website, so pop over and take a look if you have time.

To all my readers, friends and family, be safe and happy. And have a Merry Christmas!
