Progress

Despite taxiing my mom to the doctor way too frequently, I’m making progress on my option book. There was a point where that white screen was mighty intimidating. It didn’t help that the wrong heroine stepped on stage and promptly clammed up. I gave her a chance, really I did. But after a week of Ms Hoity-toity’s silence, I shoved her off stage and opened the door to my imagination regarding a new heroine. And wow did she come charging in. Suffice to say I’m on a roll and loving it. 🙂

Actually on schedule

Hard to believe, but I really did finish my short story for Samhain, at least the first draft of it. Yay!

It’s been a spell since I wrote a short story, so I did a lot of feeling my way through it in parts. Plus, this story’s word count falls between what I wrote before in a short, and shorter than novella length, so that posed special problems to get a plot that wasn’t bloated yet had a story and arc and all that good story stuff to carry it through and leave the reader with a smile.

Finally surfacing

Wow, it’s been a grueling month with revisions, compounded by my mom being very ill. Not so easy to stop in the middle of edits (especially if it’s one of those intense scenes) and rush to doctors and hospitals. I can’t just tuck the worry away either when I get back to the computer, at least now right away. But I finally got it done before deadline. Yay!!!
