Hard to believe, but I really did finish my short story for Samhain, at least the first draft of it. Yay!
It’s been a spell since I wrote a short story, so I did a lot of feeling my way through it in parts. Plus, this story’s word count falls between what I wrote before in a short, and shorter than novella length, so that posed special problems to get a plot that wasn’t bloated yet had a story and arc and all that good story stuff to carry it through and leave the reader with a smile.
I have a lot of tweaking to do before sending it off to my editor, but I can get that done quickly (she said with fingers crossed. ) 🙂
If all goes well and the editor actually likes it, it’ll be available Dec 19 at Samhain as a download. I’ll know more later and should have a cover to put up by next month. I think.
I’ve gotta tell you I’m looking forward to not having any deadline for a while. There are things around the house that are desperately crying out for attention, and I could also use a rest from the hectic pace.
So that’s the update for now.

As a non-writer, I can only imagine the relief when a story line wraps up. Congrats. Samhain does such a great job with their book selections, can we look forward to some excerpts????

Sure, as soon as my editor okays it, Cathy. 🙂 I’ll put a teaser up on my books page. I’m sure impressed with Saimhain’s entire set up. Very good for the author, and the readers out there.

🙂 So far, Karin. If I hear positively from my editors, it’ll be a big yay, lol.
