All unpublished authors live for the day when they can announce they got The Call from an editor.
And my day finally came. (insert deliriously happy scream here)
Of course, since I’m the queen of out-of-the-ordinary things, I got the call moments after I left a store and got in my car. The editor’s first words–I want to buy BOND–literally shocked me speechless.
Words are my best friend yet I couldn’t thing of a damned thing to say. I looked out the windshield at people milling around and thought is this a dream? I can’t even begin to describe the emotions colliding within me at that moment.
The contracts still have to be signed. The revisions done. The second book turned in by deadline which seems awfully close yet awfully far away.
Once I know specifics, I’ll let you all know. But for those who keep tabs on me here, you’re the first to know I’m on my way to being a published fiction author, lol!
Tomorrow I’ll post a longer account of the call on WriteMinded, the blog I share with four other published authors. Yes, we’re all published now.
Hey, thanks for dropping by, and do come back for updates. The ride has just begun. 🙂

Stupid Yahoo!! I come home from shopping and find all these “re: THE Call!”‘s from both the CNN & Pro-Org loops, but not the initial email. So I’m going through them asking myself Jan WHO, please let it be Jan Kenny. So thank you for posting on your blog! Congratulations!!!!

Sharon, I was so afraid I wouldn’t muster up to the group’s standards when I subbed to you. I never dreamed you guys would welcome me in, and we’d become such close friends. Damn luckiest day of my life, GF! Next to selling BOND of course. 😉
Party on down, Amy! Thanks for everything.
Thanks, Steph! Now I know how you felt.
More like *about time*, Michelle, but I ain’t complaining.

It sure is, Edie!
Long story short, Jordan–I sent the editor the partial and four days later she asked for the full. About eleven days later I got the call. Mighty fast turnaround–my head is still spinning! Release date is tentatively early 2007. 🙂
Thanks, Bonnie!

I congratulated you on WM, Jan–
But news like this deserves additional congrats. So again– A HUGE congratulations on this sale. Not to mention this incredibly fast sale. lol. Obviously, your editor knows talent when she sees it and is smart enough to snatch it up quick, rather than taking the chance someone else is going to beat her to it.
Best wishes for a long and successful tour of duty in your new career.

LOL, thanks for the double thanks, Theresa! I’ve only heard great things about my editor, and from listening to her on RWA conference tapes, she sure impressed me as being very savvy.
